Habit
Spiny Shrub up to 6-8 ft height.
Habitat
Daruharidra is found in Himalayan region at the altitude of 7000-10000 ft. and also found in Srilanka.
Morphology
- Stem - 20 cm in diameter. Twigs whitish or pale yellowish brown.
- Leaves- 4-10 cm long, 1.5-3 cm wide, obovate or elliptic, spinous toothed.
- Flowers- Seen in bunches, 4-6 mm long bright yellow coloured.
- Fruits- Ovoid shaped, 1 cm long, blue of black colored.
- Seeds- Small , ovoid brouw colour.
Chemical Composition
Daruharidra contains Berberine, Berbamine, oxycanthine and astringent principles.
